A Non-Alcoholic Whiskey Sour

A published serve, clear optional elements, and no invented test-kitchen adjustments.

This recipe is formatted from Ritual Zero Proof’s published Whiskey Sour. The proportions, method, and optional egg white or aquafaba remain attributed to that source.
A documented sour
A non-alcoholic whiskey sour setup with lemon, ice, a jigger, and an unbranded amber bottle.

Ritual Zero Proof publishes a Whiskey Sour made with its Whiskey Alternative, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. That gives The Dry Glass a complete, attributable starting point—not a claim that we developed or tested a better version.

Ingredients

  • 2 fl oz (59 ml) Ritual Whiskey Alternative
  • 3/4 fl oz (22 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 fl oz (15 ml) simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Cherry or orange slice for garnish

Method

  1. Combine the Whiskey Alternative, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds.
  3. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice.
  4. Garnish with a cherry or orange slice.

What is optional

Ritual lists egg white or aquafaba as optional for froth. That is an option from the publisher, not a requirement of the base recipe. The source does not say that either choice is necessary for the drink to work, so we do not treat it as part of the minimum shopping list.

The minimum basket is the Whiskey Alternative, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, ice, and the published cherry-or-orange garnish. The method also asks for a shaker and a way to strain into an ice-filled serving glass. If you have no safe way to complete those steps, choose a documented built drink tonight rather than quietly turning this sour into an untested stir-in-the-glass recipe.

The bottle calculation

Ritual lists its Whiskey Alternative at 750 ml, or 25.4 fl oz. At the published 2 fl oz pour, the bottle contains 12 complete pours when rounded down: 25.4 ÷ 2 = 12.7. That is a planning count for this particular recipe, not a claim that every serve from the bottle will be identical.

The Dry Glass Take

For twelve published pours, plan for 9 fl oz (about 266 ml) of lemon juice and 6 fl oz (about 177 ml) of simple syrup. Those quantities scale the ingredient list; they do not validate a large-format preparation, which the source does not publish.

Ice, garnish size, spills, and personal pour size are not fixed by the source. Keep them separate from the bottle calculation instead of presenting 12 as a guaranteed guest count.

A four-glass shopping list is smaller and often more useful: 8 fl oz of the base, 3 fl oz of fresh lemon juice, and 2 fl oz of simple syrup, plus ice and the chosen garnish. Shake and strain each glass according to the source; multiplying the list does not make a pitcher recipe. The two places ice appears—in the shaker and in the serving glass—also matter when checking what is in your freezer.
